Donatella Pallotti is Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Florence. She is Editor-in-chief (with Paola Pugliatti) of the
Journal of Early Modern Studies
(JEMS) and member of the International Board, Faculty of Arts, University of South Bohemia in
České Budějovice
. Her broad research interests focus on early modern literature and culture, in particular, women’s spirituality and the construction of the religious self, violence against women and its conceptualizations, issues of authorship in poetry. She has written on the stylistics of poetry, Donne’s poetry, Shakespeare’s and Isabella Andreini’s sonnets, Shakespeare’s
Passionate Pilgrim
, psalm translation in verse, early modern women’s prophecy, spiritual testimonies, conversion narratives and life-writing, the moral debate on dance in early modern England, and early modern representations of rape. Her current research relates to sixteenth- and seventeenth-century literature on prophecy, spiritual testimony, conversion narrative and life writing; representations of violence against women in early modern culture; psalm translation in verse, and issues of authorship in Shakespeare’s poems.
